I think you’ll probably have to be over 40 – or a Renault nut – to have any knowledge of the Renault Gordini. But you’re soon going to be a bit more knowledgeable if reports that Renault are about to revive the Gordini name are true. There have been rumours for quite a while that Renault want to use the Gordini name on their ‘Sporty’ cars in the same way that BMW has used the Cooper name on MINIs and Fiat the Abarth name.
BMW M5 - the Tease begins
It’s over a year since BMW officially revealed the latest 5-Series, and yet we still don’t have the halo of the range – the BMW M5. But that’s about to change. As we reported last month, we expect BMW to unveil the new 2012 M5 at the Shanghai Motor Show in April.
VAUXHALL has boosted the performance of its three-door Astra GTC with the inclusion of a new 1.6-litre turbo petrol motor. Slotting in below the firm’s hot VXR variant, this latest addition to the Astra range boasts 197 horsepower and is the same unit that also powers Vauxhall’s premium drop-top, the Cascada. On-paper performance figures promise a brisk driving experience, with the 1.6 turbo Astra GTC topping out at 143mph and capable of sprinting to 60mph in 7.3 seconds.
